Jeera Aloo (Cumin Potatoes)

23 years today, feels like a lifetime. 23 years, 3 children and lots of lovely memories. 23 years I have been married to this lovely man. Today is a special day but yet it feels like any other day.
In my heart of hearts I had hoped for something magical to happen in the morning but when I look at it realistically every day is magical, how the sun rises every morning and the darkness disappears, how the plants, flowers and everything living comes to life with a new light everyday.
I suppose it is in our hands to make our day feel special. Today I look back at my life, I stop and take a moment I give thanks to the Universe.
I come downstairs and something magical does happen…… I open the front door to find ducks on our doorstep 🙂

Sooo sweet….. it is true ….. when you really wish for something with a open heart just like a child would, it materialises. They made our day. Everyone got excited. We fed the ducks and took lots of photos. the kids were most excited. I think they must have got lost somehow and ended up at our doorstep.
Or maybe they came to wish us??

Today for breakfast I make something that everyone loves, whether they are old, young and also babies….. Potatoes.
It is a very simple recipe and goes well with hot puris for breakfast.
It is a dish that can be eaten as starter or a side dish with any kind of bread/rice or just as a snack.

3 medium sized potatoes
6/7 cherry tomatoes or
2 tomatoes cut in quarters

Method

Boil whole potatoes and cut them into small pieces.
Heat the oil and butter in a pan.
Add cloves, cinnamon stick and dried red chilli
Once it starts giving a spicy aroma, add the whole cumin and let it sizzle for a few seconds.
Add the garlic, ginger chilli paste. After a minute or so on low heat
add the potatoes, salt, cumin powder, coriander, tomatoes and some lemon juice.

Stir it so that all the spices mix in well and cover for 5-7 minutes and let the potatoes take in the flavour of the spices and the tomatoes soften.

Serve hot and enjoy!
